Ever have that feeling like you’re not all the way here?

Like a piece of you got left behind somewhere along the way? Maybe after a breakup. A big move. A traumatic moment.

Or even something “small” that others brushed off, but it landed in your body like a brick.

This is what we call soul loss.

And I know that term might sound a little dramatic or out there, but stay with me—this is one of the most human things we can experience.

What is Soul Loss, Really?

In simple terms, soul loss is when a part of your energy, your essence, your you-ness disconnects as a way of coping. It's not that you're broken—it's actually a brilliant survival response. Your system says, “This is too much. I’ll tuck this part away until it feels safe again.”

Sometimes that part gets stuck. And years later, you’re left wondering why you feel off. Or why you don’t quite recognize yourself anymore. You might say things like:

  • “I just don’t feel like myself.”

  • “I don’t know what I want.”

  • “I feel numb.”

  • “I used to be so ___, what happened to that version of me?”

Sound familiar?

You’re Not Alone, and You’re Not Lost Forever

We’ve all left parts of ourselves behind. Some we consciously gave away, thinking it was the only way to be loved. Others we dropped like hot coals because they hurt too much to carry.

But here's the beautiful part: those pieces can be called back.

Shamanic healing often involves a practice called soul retrieval, where we reconnect you with the parts of you that got disconnected. The pieces that are still waiting to be seen, held, and welcomed home.

And no, it doesn’t always look like some big mystical moment (though sometimes it is kind of magical). Sometimes it’s just a soft, quiet remembering. A reconnection with joy. Laughter. Curiosity. That moment you surprise yourself by dancing in your kitchen again.

How You Might Start to Call Yourself Back

Even if you’re not doing deep healing work yet, you can start to notice where you’ve left yourself behind. Ask:

  • When did I stop trusting myself?

  • Where was the moment I started shrinking?

  • What part of me still wants to be heard?

Then listen. Without pressure. Without needing to “fix” anything.

Even picking up an old hobby, standing up for yourself in a small way, or simply saying, “I miss that part of me,” can be an opening.

My Thought

You’re not broken. You’re not empty. You’re just layered.

And sometimes, healing is simply about gathering the pieces. Calling them back. Letting your soul know it’s safe to come home again.

You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready” to bring yourself home. If you’re feeling the pull, trust it. This is the work I do, and I’d be honored to support you.

My Release Sessions are especially supportive when you’re ready to call your energy back, reconnect with your essence, and feel more you again. You can read more or book a session here if that feels right.

With love and light,

Danielle
